I am a Jew. I wear a garment known as a kippah. I was brought up in UWC and had been one of those kids who always joked around. People made fun of me for being Jewish and I poked fun back. This is normal for boys at a young age - my friends and I liked to joke around.
Until one day in 7th (or 8th) grade.
We were on a school trip to the HDB across from the campus and our task was to take note of all the recycling bins around the building and their locations. At one point I was walking alone when a group of 6-7 Malay students from a neighboring building surrounded me. This was the first time I looked at anti-Semitism in the face. They started cursing at me, but I was in complete shock. I never thought this could happen to me. Not here. In Singapore. My reaction was uncontrollable and I was hysterically laughing. The sound of my laugh was so loud that my friends nearby heard me and came to see what I was laughing about. Thankfully, I wasn't harmed.
So my question is, what did UWC do after the incident? After my incident? Why was it covered up?
To this day, I never got an answer.
